Aping the Apple! - Computer History Museum , Mountain View

I wanted to go to this one since a long time. But I could take time out for it only after 1 year of being in Silicon Valley. It is located near Shoreline Blvd in Mountain View close to Google Offices!!. The building is a magnificent construction thanks to donation of a Silicon Valley company whose name I dont recollect..

The first thing which greets you after you enter the lobby is the super computer Cray! It is so modern in its exteriors that the cooling fans are covered by the leather seating. U can actually sit on it!! Now as you traverse ahead there is a huge rack of age old Apples! which tell the story of UI Giant and shows the respect they pay to detail. There are also variety of calculators and other counting and measuring machines. The IBM census machine is worth a second look. Also the various boards displayed in IBM offices in different locations in different languages just emphasize on one thing , 'THINK'!

There are lot of first ever huge gigantic machines built. Analog, Digital, Storage, Embedded they have them all. There is a whole aisle devoted to Cray family and the modern designs inspite of messy wires do catch your eye. There is also a section for Robots. There is one called Tommy ..looks pretty cute I must say and ofcourse they have Ibo.

There is also a corner devoted to the game of Chess, my favourite game. It is a delight for any chess lover. Last but not the least there is a display of the advent of Silicon Valley bigges and their success stories and yeh they have the Cisco's first ever Router!

There is also an impressive section showing the various gaming consoles and they look pretty ancient especially the ones from Atri. The Museum is also researching to restore and age old technology IBM gaming machine.

All in all, it was an afternoon well spent.

Kashid Beach - Undiscovered Heaven

Kashid Beach is about 120 km south of Mumbai in Raigad District. It is easily a great getaway for a weekend trip with family and thats what we did!! We, family of 9 people rented a TATA Sumo and set on our journey at 6am in the morning. The journey was not long but the time was spent in interesting conversations and singing songs. Soon before we realised we were already at Wadkhal Naka, a stopover for a quick breakfast. We had Marathi traditional favourite Wadapav with mirchi and Solkadi. It was so much fun sharing it with my sister, Piyu!!

When we reached Kashid it was almost 12pm. The last 30 km were very scenic and provided absolute bliss of fresh air away from Mumbai and its smog. We rented a Bunglow all for ourselves and quickly changed into Beach clothes. Me, My bro and my uncles were the first one to hit the beach. The water was cool and the beach was bit crowded due to the weekend, nevertheless it dint stop us from having fun. We dint realise how many hours it was before we got out of water. Then we relaxed and slept on beach with our beach towels and my sis was trying to make something out of sand which she called a castle.

Later it was starting to get hot and sun was up on the horizon, so I relaxed in cool shade in a hammock, sipping on coconut water...wow..just perfect. Soon Mum and Aunt made some quick refreshments ...it was a picnic after all and hence there was a picnic basket. We also had cakes for desert..yummmmm

After changing in dry clothes we hit the beach again and enjoyed a horse carriage ride. The weather was just perfect with sun setting on horizon. After enjoying the lovely sunset we set off on our journey back home and dint forget to stop at Wadkhal Naka to grab another rounds of Wada Pav!!
